Jeremy William Hilgert has been working in professional theater for the last 20 years. His work encompasses nearly 80 different productions as performer, director, and coach. Recently, Jeremy returned to the northeast after completing his course work for an MFA in Theatre at Virginia Commonwealth University. While at VCU, Jeremy played Uncle Ernie in The Who's Tommy as well as was an active teacher, coach, and mentor for undergraduate theatre students. Before his time in Richmond, Jeremy was last seen in a return engagement at The Growing Stage in Netcong NJ, as The Bookseller/Professor Engywook in The Neverending Story. Also for the Growing Stage Jeremy performed to critical acclaim in the New Jersey premiers of Seussical as Horton the Elephant, A Midnight Cry as Mr. Bullard, Toad in A Year with Frog and Toad and Swifty Levine / King Markus in The Dinosaur Musical. Jeremy’s performance as Swifty Levine was recognized for a second time by The New Jersey Star-Ledger’s Peter Filicia as on one of the top performances of a featured actor in a musical for New Jersey in the 2007-2008 season.
Other credits include Carousel, The Music Man and Plain and Fancy at The Round Barn Theater [Nappanee, Indiana], Nunsense A-men at Cornwells Dinner Theater [Marshall, Michigan], Disney's Beauty and the Beast and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at The Palace Theater [Manchester, New Hampshire], 42nd Street, Pirates of Penzance and Fiddler on the Roof at Shawnee Playhouse [Shawnee-on-Delaware, Pennsylvania], as well asYou've Gotta Have Heart, a musical tribute to legendary director and playwright George Abbott at Philadelphia's Prince Music Theater, among many others.
Jeremy studied voice and opera at the Esther Boyer College of Music at Temple University in Philadelphia as a voice student of Carlos Serano. He obtained a B.A. in Political Science from Centenary College in Hackettstown, New Jersey. Jeremy will graduate with his MFA in Theatre from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA.
